BLOG - AUGUST 25

It's the end of August and the rain & winds have arrived here in Essex. What's it like where you are in the world ? I'm still recovering from my Appendix removal and it's taking longer than I thought. I tried a bit of gentle exercise (walking) but 15min was too much so I'm taking it very slowly and not back to my daily fitness routine yet. I miss it so much but I've got to listen to my body.

At the start of August I went to see Jurassic World at the Cinema with Henry. It's one thing we do together that is easy for me to do right now and doesn't involve some kind of sport where he's trying to beat me ! I also took Henry to Aqua Action and Go Ape with his girlfriend, which is an inflatable bouncy thing on a lake and climbing high ropes and walking across rope bridges in the forest! They had a great time whilst I chilled out in the sun - both definitely young person's activities ! It was lovely to see my 5yr old nephew, we went to a nearby outside activity centre and he had me digging in the sand. I have tried to make the most of the school holidays as they go by so quickly.

Michael's been making the most of the sunshine and dry weather, playing lots of golf, getting his handicap down. It's a great pastime as it gets him out in the fresh air, exercising and socialising with his 45-75 year old golfing group. I've never been keen to play golf (maybe seaside crazy golf) but I know one of you does by your email address (Barbara).

Henry received his GCSE results and he got the grades he needed to stay at his current school which was a relief for us all. He wanted to stay as he's comfortable there, having been there for 5 years already. We wanted him to stay too, as the alternative schools meant travelling in the opposite direction to our life circle of friends and activities. Also, it's a fantastic school so he will continue to benefit from the great education he's received there.

I've been working on new recipes whilst recovering as well as dealing with enquiries and the many orders for "4 SEASONS" and "99 RECIPES". I think all the recent computer work (as well as getting slightly older!) has taken it's toll on my eyes as I went to the opticians recently and now need to wear glasses for close work/reading. So you may see me in upcoming videos with my new specs and I hope you approve!

Henry had another 'Young Driver' driving lesson recently. He's had about 8 of these now and they're in closed 'park & ride' car parks to get him ready for when he turns 17 and can have proper driving lessons on the road. By knowing how to drive & control a car before getting on the road with other drivers, we feel it will give him more confidence and ability to pass his driving test quickly.

Hundreds of you are benefitting from my printable recipes subscription which go along with the YouTube videos. Thankyou for your continued support with this. I hope you're enjoying the new recipes in the weekly emails I send out ?

I have lot's of great recipe ideas coming for the Autumn months, so please keep watching my YouTube videos and commenting - it's this that helps me to know what you want to see more of. I also love to see your own creations on my Facebook group, so please keep posting - don't be shy!
