BLOG - JULY 2025

Well, July was eventful ! Holiday to Bali, "4 Seasons" arrived, had my Appendix removed !... Read on for more details...

We planned our Summer holiday earlier than normal this year for 2 reasons - 1. Henry did his GCSE exams so finishing school early, meant we could have our holiday at a slightly cheaper time of year. 2. "4 Seasons" was in production, so whilst we were awaiting delivery it was a great time to go away.

HOLIDAY

ree

Our holiday was amazing - we stayed on 3 different places in Bali over the 2 weeks. Something we wouldn't normally do. But there's so much to see and do there and we'd heard the traffic was awful, so staying near to the things we wanted to do made more sense. That turned out the right choice as the roads there just aren't able to cope with the traffic. Most get around on bikes to zip in and out of the traffic which makes it quite dangerous but the only accidents we saw were actually 2 lorries turned over down the bank where the road was just too narrow for 2 vehicles to pass ! In Ubud it rained torrentially for the 4 days we were there so we didn't do everything we wanted to. We visited the rice terraces, Monkey Forest, the markets, temples, a few bars (!), played cards a lot and ate really well - the food there was amazing. So cheap and sooo tasty. Most catered for my Gluten-Free needs well, a few didn't. But I'm used to that so there's always a get-around. Our 2nd stop in Uluwatu was like finding an oasis in the desert ! After Ubud being very city-like and the constant rain, walking into our gorgeous hotel was a welcomed sight. We had an amazing room with amazing sea views. The surf there is world-renowned so there were lots of surfers in the sea from sunrise until sunset. It was nice just to sit in the

pool or on the terrace just watching them attempt to ride the waves and see their "never give up" attitude as they were constantly knocked down again and again.

We visited a few "beach clubs" and went to the Rock Bar one evening where we sat with huge waves crashing against the wall beneath our feet, whilst eating and drinking until dark. Lastly, we went east to Nusa Dua where it was more family orientated, roads were better and we met many Australians there. We had a fantastic day snorkelling and visited a beautiful spot for lunch. Whilst snorkelling we swam with Manta Rays, Turtles and so many colourful fish. I'll produce a video of this (and the whole trip) on my Saville's Travels YouTube channel soon for those that are interested. We watched the Chekak Dance one night in an outdoor theatre which was the most unique experience ! Basically, about 30 men chanting whilst 4 or 5 main characters danced and moved around and between the crowd, telling an ancient story. It's hard to explain and one you have to see. Overall, this was an amazing holiday, very safe, the people were so friendly and there's so much to see. I highly recommend you visit Bali if you get the opportunity.

Don't forget to use your SK Loyalty Points when you order to get money off - Some of you have over £5 in loyalty points discount to use! The reviews are coming in and I'm pleased to hear you love this book just as much as "99".

APPENDIX REMOVAL

The 2 days prior to the new recipe book arriving, I had started to feel some pains in my stomach. If you recall last October my appendix flared up but after 2 trips to hospital, they sent me home with antibiotics and it did calm down. But these pains felt the same so on Saturday morning Michael dropped me at hospital for tests and went off to play golf (!). He played in his golf club's annual Club Championships over 2 days and finished 11th out of 118 players so he was pleased with that. The hospital kept me in and on Saturday night after various different diagnosis they eventually said I needed to have my appendix out on Sunday morning. So after packing a few more books, Michael dropped some clothes, etc. to the hospital, stayed for a bit, then went home to finish his 2nd day of golf (!) and pack some more books! The op went well and I was home on Sunday night but in quite a bit of pain. I managed to sit in short stints processing more pre-orders and I've felt better each day and in less pain. We managed to get all your recipe books out as planned by the end of the week too 🥵

HENRY

ree

The day we came back from holiday we attended Henry's Basketball Awards evening. Getting all dressed up felt odd after 2 weeks of dressing quite casually. Henry won 2 awards which was amazing as he only started playing 2 seasons ago and has gone from being new and a bit shy to a confident and respected team member. We collected Willow from the cattery the next day and she was so pleased to see us. 16 days in a warm cage can't be nice but they do their best to look after all the cats there with ice in front of the fans to give them some cool air.

Henry also did 3 days work experience with the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) last week. He has a mild interest in law and we know a lady who works for the CPS, so she kindly arranged this for him. It sounded very interesting and Henry enjoyed it, so let's see if it's something he wants to pursue.

That's all for now, August's Blog should be less eventful ! Not sure if you enjoy hearing about the personal side of what we do. Please do let me know if we should keep it just to the recipes and books.

Thank you for all your support and understanding whilst i've been out of action.

Thank you for your personal blog. Sounds you had a fantastic time in Bali and I hope you recover quickly from your appendix operation.

I received both my 99 Ninja Foodi Recipe and 4 season books on time as promised at the end of July.

i was pleasantly surprised how well presented they are. No excuse for me making any errors now!

The books alone are a joy to read and they are testament to your tenacity and presentation skills.

I like your personal touch you added where you talked about your hapless food tasting family Guinea pigs.
